Kew Gardens

Hey everyone! This week I took a visit to Kew Gardens. My last memory of visiting here was a school trip in Primary School so it was so fun to have a wonder around! I mainly took this visit to work on some photography and learn more about my camera so I thought I’d use this blog post to share some of those photos with you guys!

However, I would highly recommend visiting here! It’s such a lovely day out especially if the weather is nice. There is so much to see and you can have picnics allover the grounds!

And so the Adventure Begins

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas eating, drinking and being merry. As some of you may know I took a break from blogging over the Christmas period mainly so I could focus on what I wanted to do for the New Year.

As the new year rolls in I thought I’d reflect on my blogs first year and some of the highlights and explore some goals I have for 2019!

This year has brought a visit to my favourite city yet, San Fransisco,

DSC_0644

opened my heart to the American National Parks,

IMG_7774

seen the beginning of my bullet journal journey,

IMG_0148

and introduced me to the best cookies I’ve ever tasted!

IMG_2346

2019 is finally here and that brings many of us new goals and aspirations. Last year I only really had three New Years resolutions: read more (I finished one book which is probably more than the year before so tick), learn Spanish (I’ve been off and on with duolingo) and learn to drive (I’m well on my way to accomplishing this in early 2019). All in all they weren’t a complete blow but I do intend on accomplishing more this year.

If I was to describe 2019 in one word I’d say focused. Just because I really want to excel in my blog posts, in school, with my driving. There’s a lot I’d like to achieve! Here are a few goals/aspirations/resolutions…

  • Follow a pescatarian diet
  • Publish two blog posts a week
  • Incorporate more yoga daily
  • Reduce screen time/mindless scrolling
  • Make time for Spanish practice
  • Better sleep patterns
  • More productive days

If you guys have any goals or aspirations for 2019 comment below!!

Stay tuned as I have an exciting trip to Amsterdam planned! If you haven’t already, sign up to email notifications so you never miss a post!

Peace out guys!

Bullet Journalling

Hey! If any of you read my “Back to School Stationary” post from a few weeks ago you’ll noticed I mentioned that I have began using the Dingbats A5+ dotted notebook for my bullet journalling and that a post specifically on bullet journalling would be coming. Well here it is! All of my bullet journal inspiration has come from @amandarachlee so the only credit I take from this work is physically copying her youtube pan with me’s. This might not be the most creative way to set up a bullet journal but I enjoy doing it honestly and thats all that really matters. I have been using my bullet journal for about a month and a half now and here are a few tips I have learnt along the way.

  1. Only incorporate spreads into your journal if they benefit and improve your life.

If you feel as if your bullet journal spreads are a drag or a chore to fill out then get rid of them the following week or month. Bullet journals should be an enjoyable positive add on to your daily or weekly routine. Whether your goal is to become more organised or to procrastinate less it should have a positive impact on you so if you’re starting to detest filling out budget trackers or mood trackers then just don’t include them in the following weeks. You can always add them back in if you feel as if you need them again.

2. Embrace your mistakes!

This is one the hardest lessons I have had to learn. I do a lot of doodles in pencil before I go over them in pen and the same goes for some wording but it doesn’t matter how many outlines you draw or how many stencils you use, you will make a mistake. Of course there are ways to cover up mistakes and @amandarachlee has a youtube video specifically on covering up bullet journal mistakes. But over the short time I have been bullet journaling I have learnt that most of the mistakes aren’t worth going through the effort of covering so I just embrace them. They become part of the journal.

3. Expensive stationary is not necessary

A lot of people on Youtube or Instagram who run accounts based off of bullet journaling have flashy expensive pens and notepads. Don’t get me wrong, I could pend hundreds on stationary that I don’t need but if you’re a newbie to bullet journalling a simple pen and noted pad are absolutely fine. It can be tempting to splash out as soon as you begin but it can also be a good idea to save the money initially and find out what works for you.

Ive included some photos below of my fist month of Bullet Journaling. Again, these are all inspired by @amandarachlee so check out her Instagram if you want to get into bullet journalling.

IMG_2461IMG_0671IMG_5523IMG_0354IMG_6246IMG_0753IMG_8814

I hope this inspired some of you who might be thinking about taking up bullet journal or at least gave you some pretty space doodles to look at! Thanks for reading! Let me know in the comments if you guys enjoy bullet journalling and what kind of weekly/monthly spread you include!

Peace out guys x

Back to School Stationary Haul

I am a little bit obsessed with stationary if I’m honest with you and a few weeks ago I made a special trip to Tottenham Court Road to visit the biggest Paperchase in London. It was quite overwhelming to say the least but I was also very much in my element. Next week is my first week of my second year of university. Most schools have already gone back and some universities go back later on in September. So I thought this would be the perfect time to show you guys what I bought for back to school supplies and how I plan on organising all my notes. I have included prices and where I bought things from so you guys could get some inspiration for your supplies!

Lined A4 Exercise Book

Brand: Paperchase

Price: £8

I plan on using this exercise book to make notes in lectures and seminars. I don’t usually make that many notes in lectures as the presentations are uploaded online so keeping all these notes in one book works well for me. However, if you are more of an active note taker or require more space you may want to purchase more than one exercise book and allocate them to each module or subject you are studying.

I love this exercise book in particular because there is a high quality of paper which reduces pens from bleeding or ghosting through the pages. I also love that it has a margin and date line in the book and the ruler down the side of the cover.

A4 10 Subject Notebook

Brand: Paperchase

Price: £8

This notebook is going to be for all my revision notes. Each subject will represent each module and I will make notes from the presentations of my lectures and seminars that I require my exams. For those of you with lots of subjects these books can be good for class notes to save you from carrying around multiple exercise books.

I used this book last year for my lecture/revision notes and i really loved it as it helped me stay organised without carrying tonnes of books around. The paper quality is high again which reduces bleeding and ghosting of particular pens. This is especially important for my revision notes because I love to use lots of different coloured markers.

Lever Arch File

Brand: Paperchase

Price: £6

University involves reading a lot of online journals so, to stay organised, I have decided to print them off each time I am assigned a reading and annotate them and file them in the lever arch file. I am going to organise them per module. Readings can really help with exams and assignments so it’s important to stay on top of them.

I love this lever arch file in particular because of the cute quote on the front “I’m very busy and important”. The inside is also bright yellow to bring some life to my readings!

A5+ Dotted Notebook

Brand: Dingbats

Price: £15

I actually ordered this notebook off of amazon after researching the best notebooks for bullet journal. Bullet journalling is a way of staying organised and keeping all your affairs in order but you can also have a lot of fun with it! This is the first time I have had a bullet journal and I decided to start after being inspired by AmandaRachLee on youtube. You should definitely check her work out, it’s so creative! I plan on doing a blog post specifically on my bullet journal at some point however, if you are considering taking it up Dingbat notepads and awesome!

I absolutely love this notebook it has so many cool features such as the built in book mark, the elastic pocket for a pen, a back pocket and the adorable little bear prints on the inside. They come in lined, gridded, plain and dotted. I went with dotted so I have some kind of guidelines that aren’t too in your face. The paper quality is great with virtually no ghosting or bleeding so I would highly recommend this notebook.

Muji 0.5 Black Gel Pens

IMG_7238

Brand: Muji

Price: £8.95

These pend come in a pack of 6, there is one extra picture here. They provide such a smooth writing experience however, I wouldn’t recommend them if you’re left handed as the do take second to dry. I haven’t been using these long but I love how they feel to write with!

Muji 0.5 Assorted Colour Gel Pens

IMG_0690

Brand: Muji

Price: £16.95

These come in a pack of 12 and make a great accessory to any revision notes. Again, these take a second to dry so if you are left handed I don’t know how great they will work for you. They write very smoothly and the assorted colours are perfect!

Zebra Mildliners

Brand: Zebra

Price: £15.99

I absolutely LOVE these markers. They are called mildliners as they are similar to highlighters but the colours aren’t too in your face. There are four packs in total, pictured are the pastel pack, cool pack and warm pack there is also a peachy pack which is fairly new. I ordered these three together off of amazon and I am in no way disappointed. Each pen has a flat bold marker side and a thin fine liner side. Although there is an odd collection of colours they all work great and i would highly recommend these to anyone and everyone!

Tombow Dual Brush PenIMG_3867

Brand: Tombow

Price: £3.75

I bought this pen from Paperchase to work con some calligraphy for my bullet journal. One side is like a brush where you can work between think and thin strokes and the other end is a thin marker. They sell these pens in a variety of colours although I went with black to begin with.

Below is a pen test of all the pens mentioned above:

IMG_2820

So that was my back to school haul, I hope it gave you some inspiration on what to buy for your back to school supplies and that you found it helpful/interesting. If you guys have any stationary supplies that you swear by comment below I’d love to hear about them!

Peace out guys x

Sunday Markets

Hey guys! Yesterday I headed to Brick Lane with my friend, Meg, where we had lunch in the cereal killer cafe and strolled around the markets. It was so hot and very busy but I had a lot of fun just wondering around the streets of London.

Cereal Killer Cafe is this retro cafe that serves so many different types of cereals and cereal cocktails, they also do hot food! Everything on the menu is so unique and very yummy! The place is kitted out with throw-back toys and posters. There are two locations in London: Brick Lane and Camden Market. We went to the one in Brick Lane which had moved locations since the last time i’d been there. I ordered an ice cream cereal cocktail called the luckiest charm which was Lucky Charms, Lucky Charm ice cream and green milk, Meg ordered Frosties ice cream and we shared some pizza sausages and Cornflake Chicken. It was all so good!

IMG_4440

IMG_1163

After we’d eaten we wondered around and found so many different market areas surrounding the area. I’m glad we ate before because I wouldn’t have been able decide what to eat from the market it all looked and smelt amazing!

IMG_2238

IMG_5658

IMG_8807

We stumbled across the most adorable plant store in one of the indoor market areas! There were terrariums hanging all over the place and they had these cute necklaces with roses and other flowers in them.

If you’re ever at loose end on a Sunday I would strongly recommend checking out the markets and cereal killer cafe should deffinately be on your list of places to visit!

Netflix’s Most Wanted!

Hey Guys! This week i thought i’d write about some of my favourite tv shows that are available on Netflix, the British version! I spend a lot of time watching Netflix or just  letting it play in the background while I do work… so i’m always looking for new things to watch. I’m going to talk through some of the shows that I have watched, LOVED and recommend to anyone and everyone.

(They are in no particular order)

  1. Weeds (18) 8 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.03.15

I am currently in the middle of watching this show after my boyfriend told me to check it out. It’s kind of like Breaking Bad, but with weed. The show is set in California and is about a mum whose husband recently passed away and to get by she sells weed. It follows the story of the whole family while the mum goes from small time weed dealer to, well, big time weed dealer. I particularly like how you see the growth in these characters, especially in the kids. If you liked breaking bad then i’d say give this go, but give it a few episodes until you decide if you like it.

2. Pretty Little Liars (12) 7 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.05.47

I think I have watched and rewatched this series around 4 times in total but I was very much late to the craze. The show follows the lives of 4 teenage girls after their friend goes missing and they find themselves being black mailed for all the secrets they had shared with her. The show very much drags the story out across the 7 seasons, however there are so many plot twists that you just have to keep watching. The final part of the last season was released in the summer of 2017 and although it got a little bit ridiculous towards the end, I did cry when all the characters said goodbye to each other. I love this show and i’m very much biased towards it, but if you like shows such as Gossip Girl or 90210 (before they removed it) then I’m sure you’ll like this.

3. Grace and Frankie (15) 4 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.07.28

This TV show gives me a new lease of life every time I watch it! It begins by these two elderly women (Grace and Frankie) finding out that their husbands are in love with each other romantically and have been for around 20 years or so. Grace and Frankie end up living at their shared beach house that the original two couples bought together however, they don’t get along. At first anyway. It’s all about their adjustment to life without husbands in their seventies. I love how strong their friendship becomes by the end of the show and I wish to have Frankie’s personality when I’m older. I don’t think I can compare this show to anything else, but it’s funny and heart warming and if you don’t watch it then we can’t be friends. Sorry x

4. The Good Place (15) 2 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.08.39

This is a very confusing show to explain but i’m going to try anyway. So this girl called Eleanor dies and she goes to the good place (which is essentially heaven) and she realises that she isn’t suppose to be in the good place but doesn’t want to be in the bad place. So she spends all her time trying to become a better person so she deserves to be in the good place (with the help of her ‘soul mate’ Chidi) and then there’s a humungous plot twist but i don’t want to ruin it for you. That was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Anyway, I love the imagination behind this show, all the details and how it’s been thought out.  I also freaked out when I saw the set it was filmed on at universal studios! This show is short and so are the episodes so if you don’t like it, you wont have wasted too much of your life…

5. Riverdale (15) 2 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.10.41

First thing to know about Riverdale is that it’s new. So I’m not too sure where the show is headed or if there will be more seasons. I say this because there have already been quite a lot of story lines and a partly feel like they will all link up eventually but who knows? I like how the show is set as if it were in the 80’s but is also modern. That really stands out to me! It’s about these group of high school kids who are basically like the characters in Scooby-Doo where they go around trying to solve problems, mainly murders. It is a murder mystery. Oh and did I mention that Cole Sprouts is in it? He narrates the show. What other reason do you need to watch it?

6. Black Mirror (18) 4 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.11.08

If you haven’t heard of black mirror by now: Have you been living under a rock? None of the episodes in this series are related but they all have one thing in common. Technology. It’s all about technological advances that could happen in the future. The ideas are so well thought out and so detailed it’s unreal but it really messes with your head. Especially if you binge watch it. I watched the first episode ages ago but got put it off because I didn’t like it too much so I would advise just scrolling through to which ever one catches your eye. My favourite one has to be San Junipero. I would highly recommend this TV ‘series’ however prepare to be mind blown!

7. Atypical (15) 1 Season

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.11.51

Something a little more laid back then Black Mirror. This show follows the life of a family whose son has Autism and the changes that they go through when he wants to become more independent as every teenager does as they grow up. I actually don’t know what I love so much about this series but I just really enjoy watching it! I also love the sisters hair in it… I believe the show aimed to raise awareness about autism and well I don’t know a lot but from what I’ve heard it did a good job. It’s funny but also dramatic so take a peak.

8. Stranger Things (15) 2 Seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.12.46

You’re probably sitting there thinking “yeah alright whatever” or “Im not into all that alien space stuff” but you are wrong. You might not like StarWars but I can promise you, you won’t regret watching this. Set in the 80’s, this show follows the lives of 3 young boys whose friend goes missing in the “upside-down”, the cover up of Hawkins Laboratory, and a girl called eleven who has super powers. It had me on the edge of my seat and season 2 just got better. I love the outfits and the music especially! I’t’s a must watch, honestly!!

9. How to Get Away with Murder (15) 3 seasons

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.13.39

Whenever I ask people if they have seen it and tell them to watch it because it’s amazing I always get the comment of “should I be worried” or something along those lines. The show is about a fairly big law professor and a group of her students and well, a lot of people die throughout this show. Along the way they also investigate other cases and by the end of it you’ll feel ready to start fighting for people on Death Row. I don’t want to ruin it and tell you about the murders and murderers but basically. If you want to get away with murder, become a lawyer first. If you like dramas and thrillers and crime then you will love this show!!

10. The Sinner (15) 1 Season

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.14.21

I hadn’t heard anything about this show, I just stumbled across it on Netflix and I was impressed. The show is about this woman who goes to the beach with her husband and child one day and is sitting on the towel cutting up a pear for her son. This couple in front of them start playing loud music and making out on the sand and the woman starts yelling at them. They ignore her and then she goes over and stabs the guy. He dies. The rest of the series is about them trying to find out why she did it but she had been put though so much trauma that she doesn’t remember. There is one scene where the investigator is with her and plays the same song she heard at the beach and she attacks him in exactly the same manner (minus the knife). It’s hard to stop watching this because you really want to find out what happened to her. This another one of those crime drama’s similar to How to Get Away with Murder.

11. The End of the F****** World

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 16.15.02

Lastly, but certainly not least… This show is the best! I absolutely love it!! It first came out on channel 4 where I watched the first two episodes and then watched the rest and rewatched it on 4OD. I was so happy when it came to Netflix because I really wanted my boyfriend to watch it and he can’t get channel 4. The show follows the life of a cynical 16 year old girl called Elisa and a psychopathic boy called James who run away from home. It’s very dramatic and you really get to see how their relationship grows from episode one to the very last episode. I hope they make a second season of this because everything is perfect from the music to the internal monologues that characters have. My favourite scene is near the start where the two of the are in a diner and Elisa orders a lot of food and the waitress says “well someones hungry” and Elisa laughs and says “… and an extra fucking spoon” and the two start arguing. It’s golden, honestly! If you only watch one show from this post, make it this!

That is my “short list”. There are so many great shows on Netflix and I don’t think I could ever pick a favourite because theres something for every mood. Although I will say one thing. If anyone who works with Netflix ever reads this: tell them to put 90210 back on because i’ve never been so sad about them removing show. If you guys have any shows that you love leave them in the comments and i’ll check them out!!

Peace out guys x

That was the Greatest Show Man

Happy February everyone!

On Wednesday this week my friends and I went to see the Greatest Showman at the cinema. I hadn’t watched the trailer and didn’t have a clue what it was about apart from the fact it was a musical and that everybody else was saying it was amazing! And it was!

I don’t usually get that into films. I enjoy watching them but my attention is else where most of the time. However, with this film I was so focused on what was going on right from the start. I felt overly emotional from the beginning and thats not like me honesty. I also like how its not too long. It hasn’t be dragged out it’s very to the point and i feel like thats important because sometimes films are so long and it just get boring.

Screen Shot 2018-02-03 at 14.04.36

I felt like the start of the film happened very quickly and at the time I felt like it was a bit ridiculous. However, I didn’t know what the film was about going in so I think that played a big part as to why I thought that. My opinions on musicals haven’t always been positive. I couldn’t even get past the beginning of La La Land. However, the music in the film was so great! There isn’t one song in it that was boring or too long. They were all great! I think my favourite would have to be ‘A million dreams’.

It wasn’t just the story line that I loved though. The characters and their actors were amazing too. When I heard Zack Efron was in it, I was quite surprised because I imagined it it be different to the other films he’s been in. And it is, except he plays the role so well. They all do! Especially Hugh Jackman. But then when does he ever let you down. Zendaya looks beautiful throughout the film with her glitteryoutfits I love them so much and it makes me want to be a trapeze artist. I was also so impressed with the two little girls that played Hugh Jackman’s children. Their singing and dancing was so good especially for how young they looked.

Screen Shot 2018-02-03 at 14.02.28

Screen Shot 2018-02-03 at 14.03.12

But anyway, if you haven’t seen the film you should go. Now. Because its so amazing i’m actually obsessed. I don’t think anything I can say would justify how good it actually is! So just go watch it…

Birthday Celebrations

January 24th is my birthday and this year I turned 19. Honestly, I wasn’t looking forward to it that much because (almost) everyone I usually spend my birthday with was busy or at university. However, I actually had a really lovely birthday.

I woke up on the 24th fairly early, around 7 am so I could open my presents with my family before everyone went off to school and work. I had a very chilled day because I am technically still on break from university. So once everyone had left I just sat around lazily and watched Friends on Netflix.

My mum had organised a dinner out for us all in Convent Garden. It was the coolest restaurant! We walked through Convent Garden down one of the cobbled back streets and there was this restaurant; Inamo. It’s a Japanese restaurant that works in a similar way to Tapas. You order the food on a tablet and it is served as soon as it is cooked. You can make as many orders as you like to share among the table. Although this is still cleaver, it’s not what made it so unique. Once seated we noticed a projector fitted above the table. On the table were these small clickers. All of this made the entire table like one of those interactive whiteboards you get at school! You could play games, set different table cloths and even draw on the table all with the use of the clicker.

IMG_0764 2

The food was also amazing! We ordered the wasabi fries which are ordinary fries with wasabi powder on the side, to be honest i just ate the fries; the Korean BBQ ribs; some vegetable spring rolls; Salmon tataki sushi, where my brother argued the fact that it was sushi because it was not in a roll; Spicy salmon maki sushi; half a crispy duck for duck pancakes and Singapore noodles which were my favourite! For desert we ordered this platter that had chocolate covered strawberries, marshmallows and brownie chunks that you could dip in popping candy! Just writing about it makes me hungry!

IMG_4764 2IMG_0597 2

I loved this restaurant not only for the interactive table, or the amazing food. But because the chilled environment! I am definitely gong to be going back here again and i would recommend it to everyone!!

After dinner we came back home and did birthday cake!I had told my mum i wanted a Collin the caterpillar cake so she bought one. However she also made one. It was a rocky road caterpillar, although it kind of looked like roadkill… It tasted amazing and thats all that really counts anyway!
